I-77 Toll Lane meeting planned in Cornelius as drivers continue to fight contract

- People are continuing the beg local officials to stop the toll lanes. They plan to have their voices heard Thursday night in Cornelius.

The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization was shown a preliminary report Wednesday from the company reviewing the contract.

So far, their findings show officials could cancel the contract all together or make changes, such as eliminating toll lanes in certain segments.

At Thursday night's meeting the public will be given a chance to ask questions. Those against the toll lanes fear their concerns are falling on deaf ears.

"Elected officials, when it was presented, were told 'do this or get nothing for 20 years'. Most of the officials went along with it because they thought they had no other choice," Michelle Ferlauto said, Lake Norman Transportation Safety Partnership.

The meeting is being held Thursday at the Cornelius Town Hall where doors open at 6:15 p.m.
