Iredell Co. Sheriff's Office ask for help identifying potential homicide suspect

- Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office are still trying to identify a man who may be a suspect in a January homicide. 

On January 10 around 7:00 p.m. an unidentified person shot 80-year-old Hugh Moose inside of his Statesville home at 577 Shiloh Rd. The Sheriff's Office says that Moose had come home early from work that day. 

Upon investigating, the Sheriff's Office discovered that multiple witnesses saw a man talking to Moose around 5:00 p.m. that evening, about an hour and a half before the 911 call was received. 

After going to another home in the area and asking to use a phone there, the man returned to Moose's house and was seen walking around it just minutes before the shooting is believed to have happened.

The man was described as a white male, 25 to 35-years-old, about 5'10" to 6'0" tall with a slender to medium build. The man was seeen wearing a toboggan, Carhartt style overalls and carrying a backpack. (see sketch)

According to one witness, the man said that he had ben walking all day and had come from the East Broad St. area trying to get to Old Mountain Rd. 

Detectives are asking anyone who was the in area of Shiloh Rd. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to call the Iredell County Sheriff's Office at 704-928-9804 as they "may not realize the importance of the information they have."
