Lane closures to begin next week on I-277 due to bridge project

- Several closures will take place along Interstate 277 next week in Charlotte as a $16.3 million bridge rehabilitation project gets underway.

According to NCDOT, the project will improve 22 bridges along Interstate 277. Work includes repairing existing structures, painting bridge beams, and putting down a new epoxy overlay or latex modified concrete on bridge decks to create a better riding surface.

Intermittent lane closures will be in place each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and ramps will also need to be closed during this time.

The closures for the week of 8/21 are as follows:

Tuesday, August 22: Crews will close the ramp bridge from the I-277 inner loop to U.S. 74 East from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, August 23.

Wednesday, August 23: Intermittent lane closures will be in place on the bridge from the I-277 inner loop to Tenth Street. The ramp from Eleventh Street/Davidson Street to the I-277 inner loop will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, August 24.

Thursday, August 24: Intermittent lane closures will be in place on the bridge from the I-277 outer loop to Tenth Street. The ramp from U.S. 74 West to the I-277 outer loop will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, August 25.

The project is scheduled to be completed by July 2019.
