Lincolnton Police Dept. gets bombarded with 1-star ratings from 'pro-cannabis' crowd

- The Lincolnton Police Department has had a steady stream of one-star ratings coming in to their Facebook page from a number of people expressing their anger towards the department's "war on drugs".

The Lincolnton Police Department went from a five-star rated department to a 2.1 rated star department over the course of a few days.

The department addressed the low ratings on Wednesday stating, "If you read the one star reviews you will notice we are being attacked because we enforce the drug laws of North Carolina. So basically the pro-drug crowd is rating us one star for doing our jobs. We see this as a good thing."

Some took to social media to address the Lincoln Police Department's new post.

Mitchel Schroeder wrote in part, "Unfortunately, your department's generalization is distasteful and is defamatory to the liberty movement. This is why you're getting a one star. To say we are pro-drug and pro-criminal is equivalent to saying that pro-gun supporters are pro-murder and pro-criminal due to the criminal use of guns and irresponsible gun owners."

Another low rating made by Garrick Phelps said in part, "The people rating your department one star are not "pro-drug", I think taking recreational drugs is moronic and have no desire to do so. With that being said, I don't believe people's tax dollars should be wasted on punishing people who wish to put whatever they like into their own bodies. I know you guys just enforce the laws, you do not write them but when you post about arrests/seizures, justified by unpopular laws, one should logically expect backlash on social media."

The Lincolnton Police Department said, "The men and women of the Lincolnton Police Department will proudly continue to enforce the laws of North Carolina. If you are pro-criminal or pro-crime we will accept your one-star review as a pat on the back for doing a good job."

Currently, marijuana is illegal in the State of North Carolina. The state has had legislation to legalize cannabis many times in the past but it never gets far. Law enforcement is doing their job by enforcing the law.
