UNION COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A 12-year-old could be facing felony charges after bringing a loaded gun to East Union Middle School, officials said.
The student was brought in for questioning after school administrators received a tip that he was seen showing the gun in front of other students, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
The gun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, was seized along with metallic knuckles.
No students or staff were injured.
Petitions have been filed by the sheriff's office charging the boy with a felony count of having a firearm on educational property, a misdemeanor count of having a weapon on educational property and a misdemeanor count of possessing a handgun as a minor.
