A University of Notre Dame football player lost his wallet on spring break 33 years ago and it was returned to him on Aug. 24,2017.
"For him to take the time, go to the post office, pay for the postage and actually send the wallet but in addition to that, there's $200 in the wallet," Tony Leonard said.
Leonard, who now lives in Charlotte, was traveling to Florida for spring break in 1984. He said he lost his wallet at a gas station and it never turned up.
"Now I'm in spring break with no money so I'm literally borrowing money from friends, sleeping in a car one night, Leonard added.
The wallet was found the night it was lost but the man who found it said that he had all along, planned on returning it, but misplaced it when he got home. He said it turned up all these years later and he decided to mail it back to Leonard.
The finder, in a letter to Leonard, said he used the student identification card in the wallet to track down his information.
