Man accused of strangling girlfriend, holding knife to her throat

- A Lincolnton man is facing charged after police say he strangles his girlfriend and put a knife to her throat.

On Wednesday, August 10, Lincolnton police were called to a residence on Georgetown Road to a report of a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they say they found the victim with noticeable injuries. She told police her boyfriend assaulted her by choking her and by putting a knife to her throat.

The victim also told police that her boyfriend damaged several items of her clothing during the assault.

Officers located the victim’s boyfriend, 28-year-old Jeremy Scott Murray, and took him into custody without incident, police said.

Murray was found with two knives on his person, which were seized by officers during his arrest, police said.

Murray was taken to the Lincolnton County Magistrate’s office and charged with felony assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic assault on a female and injury to personal property.

Murray did not receive a bond due to the arrest being domestic related.  However, he was issued a first appearance court date in Lincoln County District Court where a District Court Judge issued him a secured bond of $2,000.

Murray has prior a conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia.
