ARCHDALE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man has been arrested after police say he forced a woman into her car at a gas station, held her against her will, and sexually assaulted her.
Dustin Bowman is charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree forcible sex offense and robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to Concord police.
Officers say they received a call about 6:36 a.m. Tuesday from the Archdale Police Department about a 46-year-old woman who had been carjacked from a gas station in Concord.
After reviewing surveillance video, investigators said evidence revealed that Bowman forced the victim into her car at the QuikTrip on George W. Liles Parkway and drove off. A female acquaintance of Bowman was also in the car.
The suspects drove the victim north on Interstate 85 and left her vehicle on the side of the road in Archdale, police said. They say Bowman sexually assaulted the victim during the drive.
Bowman and his female acquaintance were involved in an accident about 11 p.m. Monday and were dropped off at the QuikTrip by a wrecker around midnight, police said.
Police said the crime happened about 3 a.m. at the gas station.
Bowman was arrested at his Archdale home Tuesday.
His female acquaintances role in the crime is still under investigation.
