A strange encounter at an intersection led a deputy to arrest a man behind the wheel in Mooresville.
According to a release from the Iredell Sheriff's Office, a deputy saw a driver slouched over the wheel in a silver Chevy Blazer. The SUV was stopped at a green light on Brawley School Road and Morrison Plantation Parkway just after midnight. There were no cars in front of the Blazer.
When the deputy pulled his cruiser behind the Blazer, the SUV began slowly rolling into the intersection, swerving between lanes. The deputy put on his blue lights, but the SUV kept rolling forward. It rolled onto the median, towards traffic going the other way, then swerved back into the correct lane. The SUV picked up speed and hit the median again, hit a drainage grate, then slowed down.
Mooresville Police managed to stop the Blazer. The driver, Timothy Hill, 19, is charged with Driving While Impaired, Failure to Yield Blue Lights and Siren and Careless and Reckless Driving. No one was hurt.
