STATESVILLE, NC (WJZY) - The Statesville Police Department arrested a local man after he reportedly stabbed a woman in a local McDonald's parking lot.
The incident happened at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 in the McDonald's parking lot located on Signal Hill Drive in Statesville.
Nikita Maurice Conner, 30, formerly of Stony Point, NC was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Police said upon arrival, they located the victim, Chassidy Nicole Waters, 28, of Stony Point, NC, inside her vehicle suffering from several knife wounds.
Waters was transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem for further treatment.
Conner was spotted leaving the scene in an older model white Ford Crown Victoria. Minutes later it was reported that the suspect vehicle had struck another vehicle at the intersection of Signal Hill Dr. at Simonton Rd. and fled that scene as well, traveling out Simonton Road.
No injuries were reported as a result of that accident. The Statesville PD Traffic Unit is investigating the traffic collision.
Alerts with the suspect’s description were broadcast to surrounding Law Enforcement agencies. A short time later, the suspect was spotted travelling East on I-40 just inside Davie County.
Conner was stopped by the Davie County Sheriff’s Office, where he was detained without incident.
Statesville Police Investigators responded to multiple scenes which included: McDonald’s, the scene of the traffic stop where Conner was located, as well as to Baptist Hospital to continue the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined to be a domestic violence related incident and the two have children in common.
Police said Waters is alert and in stable condition.
