Peeping tom charged after taking photos up woman's skirt at Goodwill

- A peeping Tom was reported to police and arrested in Huntersville. Police say he was using his cell phone to take explicit pictures of women.

47 year-old Pieter Badenhorst was arrested and charged with felony invasion of privacy after police say he used his cell phone to take pictures up a woman’s skirt at the Goodwill on Statesville Road.

“I think it’s disgusting,” said customer Gwen Roberts.

David Foxx also commented as he headed into the store saying, “A Goodwill of all places.”

A Goodwill employee told FOX 46 that Badenhorst has committed the same crime at several Goodwill locations in the area and that it was a frequent customer that caught him.

“People like that can do that anywhere, really,” said Roberts. She believes Badenhorst needs to be examined for possible mental health issues.

Foxx wasn’t surprised the incident happened at the Goodwill, he said it could happen anywhere.

“There’s too much of it and there’s more and more ways that these individuals find to basically assault women,” said Foxx.

FOX 46 knocked on Badenhorst’s door to hear his side. He was spotted him moments later but declined to comment and walked away.

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont released this statement:

We cannot speak to the specifics in this case because it is an ongoing investigation. We can tell you that the safety of our customers and team members is a top priority.  We are fully cooperating with the police and have provided surveillance videos from our store cameras.  We appreciate the department’s quick response. Because this is an ongoing investigation, all other questions should be directed to the Huntersville Police Department.

Huntersville Police said the investigation remains open and ongoing.
