Man charged in shooting outside of Lawrence Orr Elementary School

- A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that took place outside of an elementary school on Monday. 

Devontrez Malic Moore, 25, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a weapon on school grounds and discharging a weapon on school grounds.

Around 9:00 a.m. on Monday, police say Moore fired shots at an indented target about 100 yards away from Lawrence Orr Elementary School in the 4800 block of Shamrock Drive. The school was forced to go on lockdown, but luckily no one was injured.

According to police, Moore got out of his car right before drop off' time at the school and waited. As the intended target was exiting the school parking lot onto Shamrock Drive, Moore fired several shots at the victim. 

The victim crashed into an innocent bystander and fled the scene, police said. About 45 minutes after the shooting, the victim called police to inform them what happened. 

Police say Moore and the victim knew each other.
