Man charged with accessory after the fact in Catawba County murder case

- A man has been charged with accessory after the fact in connection to a shooting that left a 19-year-old young man dead, deputies said. 

Dustin Allen Shook, 23, was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 3 and charged with accessory after the fact of murder in the shooting death of Justin Tyler Smith, 19. 

Jeffery Douglas Brittain, 23, is accused of shooting and killing Smith inside his home on Ball Park Rd. in Newton last week. The incident is believed to be over a dispute about a girl. 

Shook is being held at the Catawba County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
