Man charged with murder in deadly northwest Charlotte shooting

- A man has been charged with murder in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in northwest Charlotte Tuesday morning, police said. 

Montavious Sanchez Berry, 18, is being charged with murder, armed robbery and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Berry was located by police around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12. 

CMPD said Berry is accused of shooting and killing Derrick Lee Banner, 26, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 12 the 1400 block of Rosetta Street. Officers found Banner inside of a vehicle shot to death. He was pronounced dead on scene.

This shooting marks the 64th homicide for the City of Charlotte this year.
