Man dies in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in northwest Charlotte, police say

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said they're conducting a homicide investigation after a man was found with multiple stab wounds in an apartment complex located in northwest Charlotte. 

Officers said at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, August 11, they responded to the 100 block of Park Fairfax Drive for an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon arrival, officers found Stan C. Wilson Jr., suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. Wilson was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Initial information indicates that Wilson entered a home in the area, where a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Wilson was stabbed. Detectives said they're working to determine if there was a relationship between Wilson and occupants of the home.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit said they're canvassing the neighborhood to determine whether there are any witnesses to this incident. The investigation is in its early stages. 

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence. 

Representatives of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team, Real Time Crime, Special Investigations and Operations Command responded to the scene.
