Man dressing as Ghostbuster character charged with soliciting child for sex

- Lincolnton Police have arrested a man for soliciting children for sex online while also working as an entertainer for children's parties, according to police. 

Police arrested Michael Robert Geressy on Friday, June 10, for soliciting a child for sex act by a computer and appearing.

Detectives say they conducted an undercover sting operation involving Geressy talking with detectives posing as a 14-year-old on social media.

Geressy talked about meeting with the 14-year-old in Lincolnton to engage in sexual activity, according to detectives.

When Geressy arrived at the meeting spot he was arrested without incident by detectives.

Detectives say they discovered Geressy had been driving a 1987 Ford Crown Victoria, the exact replica of the car used in the "Men in Black" movie. The car had emergency light equipment as well as after-market toggle switch to replicate the movie car, according to detectives.

Detectives say Geressy would wear a black suit with a black tie and black sunglasses, to look like the characters of the movie. 

He also had the exact replica of a vehicle used in Ghostbusters and the vehicle used in the Blues Brothers. Geressy would wear costumes to from these movies as well, according to detectives.

Detectives discovered Geressy uses the vehicles and costumes as part of a business in which he is available for entertaining for parties.

Detectives say he is also employed as an instructor at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Charlotte.

The school made the following statement: 

"The part time employee in question has agreed to part ways with the school, pending the outcome of this incident. He had been affiliated with the school for over a year. There is no indication the allegations had anything to do with the school or students in any way". 

Geressy uses the name "Doc Geressy" while he is in "character," according to detectives.

Investigators are providing this information to the public to determine if anyone has had any inappropriate contact with Geressy in the past and to determine if any additional crimes have been committed. 

Geressy was charged with one felony count of soliciting a child for unlawful sex act and appearing to meet the child.

He was give a $75,000 secured bond and placed in the Lincoln Co. Jail.

He has since made bond and had his first court appearance in Lincoln Co. District court on Monday, June 13.
