Man fires 6 shots at couple, 1-year-old during attempted robbery in N. Charlotte

- A couple and a 1-year-old child went after a gunman following an attempted robbery.

The family tells Fox 46 Charlotte it happened Tuesday night, around 6:30 p.m., at the CashPoints on the corner of Mallard Creek Road and W. Sugar Creek Road.

The father said the suspect approached him with a gun, demanding the money just withdrawn from the machine. The family said there were people waiting to use the ATM. 

"I had to make a quick decision, and I decided to run," the father said.

He ran towards a car where his girlfriend and son were parked. The suspect started to run on foot away, from the scene, and the family followed in their car. The father wanted to get a better description of the suspect for police.

The family said the suspect got into a parked car at the Nevin Creek Apartment complex, and started firing at the couple and their child.

According to a police report, the suspect fired six shots at the victims' vehicle as it turned onto Tyler Finey Drive, Fortunately no one was injured.

No arrests have been made in the case and there is not a detailed suspect description. 

The family spoke with Fox 46 Charlotte in the hopes of warning people to be stay alert while at the ATM.
