ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - The man found with a 14-year-old missing girl in Charlotte has been charged with additional crimes, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say following an investigation, Jake Kelly, 28, has been charged with first degree kidnapping, and five counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor.
Lauren Haynes, 14, was found missing from her home on Melbourne Dr. in China Grove around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20.
After efforts to locate their daughter failed, her parents reported the girl missing. She was later found in a south Charlotte hotel with Kelly. Police saw Kelly's car outside of the hotel and found both the two inside of a room.
CMPD waited until Rowan County Deputies arrived to escort both of them back to Rowan County to continue the investigation. Kelly was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center, and Haynes was reunited with her family. Deputies said she was in good condition.
Kelly was charged with indecent liberties with a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
His bond has increased another $150,000, and he is currently being held under a $250,000 secured bond, awaiting his court date on Dec. 27.
