DENVER, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A Lincoln County man has been charged with attempted murder after choking and shooting at his girlfriend. She had broken up with him over text earlier that night.
Around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 20 Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home in the 3700 block of Cactus Ln. for a domestic dispute involving a firearm.
When deputies arrived, the suspect, Timothy Tyliek Alexander, 32, came out of a nearby woods. He was taken into custody without incident.
Later on, the victim and a friend were found in the woods where they had been hiding.
The victim told officers that she had sent a text to Alexander earlier that night telling him she was breaking up with him, and told him to come get his clothes.
She says when he got to the house, he kicked open the door and went straight to a bedroom where he got a shotgun. Alexander followed her as she ran to a bathroom in the back of the house and began choking her.
Deputies say they went back into the living room where Alexander fired several shots in her direction. One round went into a couch and another went into a television.
At that time the victim and her friend ran outside and into the woods. Neither one was injured.
Officers took a .380 caliber handgun and a 20-gauge shotgun out of the house.
After he was arrested, Alexander was taken to the Lincoln County Magistrate's Officer where he was charged with one felony count of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into occupied property, and breaking and entering a building. He was also charged with two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
He is being held at the Harvey A. Crouse Detention Center without bond. His first court appearance was on Monday.
