CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A Granite Quarry was flown to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after police said he got pinned under an excavator.
The Fort Mill Police Department said at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 they were contacted by York County EOC in reference to a construction site incident.
The victim, a man from Granite Quarry, North Carolina, was apparently standing beside an excavator, dealing with a maintenance issue, when the operator of the excavator began moving the vehicle, subsequently pinning the man beneath the vehicle’s track.
The incident occurred in the area of 3001 S. Doby’s Bridge Road. The 34 year-old man is an employee of Mills & Rea Contracting Incorporated, of Pineville, North Carolina.
The man was transported by helicopter to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
