Police: Man wanted for stealing from Charlotte company turns himself in

- UPDATE: 12/22/17 - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said a man who is accused of stealing construction materials from a north Charlotte company he was employed with has turned himself in to police. 

Sydney Ellis turned himself in Thursday afternoon. 


The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a man who is accused of stealing construction materials from a north Charlotte company he was employed with. 

Police said Sydney Ellis, 30, was employed with Apex Companies LLC and had been selling company materials since September 2017 to local recycling centers. 

During the investigation, detectives identified Ellis and obtained 29 felony warrants for larceny by employee.

On 29 separate occasions, detectives determined that Ellis, while employed by Apex Companies LLC, picked up materials from the company and would take them to local recycling centers instead of delivering them to the I-77 construction sites.
