Man who robbed Rock Hill convenience store at knifepoint arrested

- A man has been arrested for robbing a Rock Hill convenience store at knifepoint while threatening that he had a bomb, police said. 

The robbery happened at 2:49 p.m. Monday, August 21 at the Kangaroo Express convenience store located at 1420 Celanese Road.

The man, identified as Joshua Esskew, 26, was able to take an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a silver Ford F-150. Officers located the truck a short time later in an apartment complex on Riverview Road and located Esskew in an apartment in the complex. 

He was placed under arrest and is charged with armed robbery and possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime. All the money was recovered, police said. 

Police said Esskew also has fraud charges against him from a credit card investigation from July 24, 2017.  

Esskew’s bond hearing is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 22 in Rock Hill Municipal Court.
