STATESVILLE, NC (WJZY) - The Iredell County Sheriff's Office announced the investigation into the shooting and robbery incident that occurred in Statesville lead to the homeowner facing drug charges.
Deputies said on Thursday, May 18 the fifth robbery suspect, Shaheem Williams, was released from the hospital where he was taken into custody and placed under a $100,000 bond.
Police found that after running each of the suspect’s criminal history they had multiple prior criminal charges involving breaking and entering and violent crimes.
They said in this investigation interviews were attempted and/or conducted with all the suspects.
Kyle Jones, the alleged victim in this case, was located and re- interviewed in regard to the incident. Detectives also returned to the home on Old Mountain to collect additional evidence.
During the investigation firearms, ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia was collected from the scene.
In review of all the evidence, including statements from the all witnesses, suspects and victims detectives were able to piece together the events that lead to this incident.
They said it appeared this incident started with one of the alleged robbery suspects making arrangements to purchase a quantity of marijuana from Jones.
As some point statements indicate the plan changed from a drug purchase to a robbery. In this case Jones opened fire on the men before they gained access to the home
In addition to the five suspects being charged with robbery and related offenses, Jones was arrested and charged with conspiracy to sale or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling or place for controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Jones was taken before the magistrate where he received a $10,000 secured bond. Jones’ history shows that he has been convicted of prior criminal offenses.
