CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man whose car was riddled with bullets during a drive-by shooting Monday on Interstate-85 has been arrested on drug and weapons charges, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Dawan Evans, 32, has been charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The shooting happened Monday afternoon on I-85 northbound near I-77. Officers said they found Evans inside his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe another car pulled up along-side Evans' vehicle and started shooting.
Evans' car had at least 12 bullet holes. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center Monday for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Evans was arrested once he was cleared from the hospital on Monday, police said. The suspect involved in Monday's drive-by shooting has yet to be identified and remains on the loose.
