CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - A man confessed to police that he had stabbed his ex-girlfriend and her friend in north Charlotte on Friday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers have charged Corey Daniel Shirly, 30, with two counts of murder after he fatally stabbed Deandre Terrell Olsen, 25, and Yesenia Elena McMillon, 27.
Around 1 a.m. Friday, March 17, a concerned resident from the 4500 block of Biesterfield Drive called police as a man suffering from stab wounds was knocking on his door.
CMPD responded to the location where they discovered Olsen laying in a driveway.
Medic transported him to Carolina’s Medical Center where he later died. McMillon was found dead with stab wounds in a second home also located on Biesterfield Drive.
Both their families have been notified of their deaths.
Within minutes of the incident, police were called out to the Exxon Station in the 4100 block of Glenwood Drive after receiving a 911 call from Shirly who admitted he had just killed both Olsen and McMillon.

Shirly has since been transported to CMPD headquarters. Authorities are still investigating what led up to the stabbings.
Detectives have determined that McMillon used to date Shirly and that Olsen was just a friend of McMillon. They were not in a relationship.
