CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man who is accused of fatally shooting another man and seriously injuring his mother at a home Tuesday night in Conover is now in custody, according to the Catawba County Sheriff's Office.
Scott Anthony Putnam was arrested around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Putnam will be charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Deputies were called to a home on Curlee Drive at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a double shooting and homicide. Authorities believe Putnam shot and killed a 24-year-old man and injured his mother inside their home.
The victim's mother was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where she remains in serious condition, deputies said.
Putnam had fled the scene on foot Tuesday night before he was caught on Wednesday.
