Man's apartment burglarized, vandalized while he was supposed to be meeting with Craigslist contact

- Rock Hill police are investigating a home invasion that took place while a man was supposed to be meeting up with someone he'd been in contact with on Craigslist.

On Tuesday, May 8, the victim, whose name has not been released, left his Whisper Creek Apartment home in the 700 block of Beckham Ln. to meet up with a person he had been talking to via Craigslist.

The victim told police they were supposed to meet at Luke's Bar shortly after 6:00 p.m., then the person suggested they meet at the Waffle House at 496 S. Herlong Ave. The person never showed up, so the victim went home around 11:30 p.m. to find his apartment ransacked and vandalized.

When police arrived on scene, they found a back window open, and extensive damage done to the walls, floors and appliances in the apartment. Police say paint and bleach had been poured all over the kitchen, living rooms and bedrooms.

The victim said that his Sony flat sceen TV, Xbox, HP laptop and HP desktop computer were taken from the home, totaling more than $1,500.

He also told police that he had left the door to his apartment unlocked when he left to meet up with the person, and had given out the address of his home while they were in communication.

No arrests have been made, and the case remains open.
