Missing Charlotte teen returns home after being found in Georgia

- Yellow bows have been sitting on mailboxes for over a year waiting for the return of Hailey Burns.

"We’re going to keep the signs up. We want to let her know that if we ever do find her, we never gave up and things are there are we are just thrilled beyond comparative that she's been found and she's alive,” Neighbor Roy Linland said.

Officials say 17-year old Hailey Burns was found at a home in Duluth, Georgia near the Atlanta area

Burns went missing last May. Her family says she walked out of her home in the middle of the night and disappeared without a trace.

"As time goes on, they say the long it takes while you are under that quest to find a love one, the less chance that you have of finding somebody but the family never lost hope," Neighbor Steve Harkins said.

Burns was found with 31-year-old Michael Wysolovski. He was taken into custody and is now facing a number of charges in connection to the case. Those charges include aggravated sodomy, cruelty to children and deprivation, interference with custody, and false imprisonment.

"I don't feel bad for him. He made his choices, made bad choices and I hope they penalize him equitably," Linland said.

Neighbors tell FOX 46 Charlotte the family had been receiving tips recently about Hailey’s whereabouts for the last month.

"Somebody had a tip that seems like they were talking about Colorado. So they were hopeful, ‘Oh, we got something, there is a change that we are about to find something out’ and now it ends up in Georgia," Linland said.

"This is a good reminder that it's really important to keep it front and center because you never know when a lead comes up. My understanding it was a recent tip that led to the capture of this individual," Harkins said.

Officials say Burns is now back with her family.

Hailey's mom posted this to her Facebook page on Sunday saying: "After a night of sleuthing and driving to Georgia, our sweet baby is coming home with us."

Her father, also taking to social media to say: "Today we found my starlight and after a brief hospital stay she will return to her home."
