MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WJZY) - The body of a Rock Hill man has been found in Myrtle beach after he went missing Tuesday.
James Franklin Ross' body was found near the State Park Pier, a mile north of where he was swimming around 2:15 a.m. Friday, according to the Horry Co. Coroner's Office.

According to the police report, on Tuesday, May 17 at approximately 6:00 p.m. officers responded to the area of 29th Ave. S on the beach in reference to a distressed swimmer.
Police said a blue beach towel was found on the beach with no one around it. Cpl. Hunt said he had seen the towel when he first arrived on scene. Inside the towel was a cell phone, and a set of car keys.
Based on the area the property was found, and being left unattended police believe the property could belong to the distressed swimmer.

She then told police she believed her son was "mentally unstable," but has never attempted to hurt himself or anyone else.
The mother told police she was not sure when he would be home, but she did speak to her son the night before on May 16.
A description of the Ross' vehicle was given out, and was located by a traffic officer in the 28th Ave. S beach access.
