Mold, sinkholes and flooding has East Charlotte family speaking out

- An East Charlotte family said they've spent nearly their entire saving on a flooding problem that's not their fault.

"$12-15,000 just pulling out vapor barriers, drying out the crawl-space and we've had mold remediated several times," Shelley Atkins said.

The Atkins Family said storm water is flooding from the nearby Sharon Manor Homes apartment complex -- through the woods -- and right into their backyard.

"Obviously, mold," Atkins said. "My kids are sick all the time and then we get the mold remediated in the crawl-space as a result of the flooding."

The City of Charlotte said it is a private matter since it's originating from private property.

We reached out to the developer in question, Beacon N.C. -- and are awaiting a response.
