Mom charged with murder after lying about baby's abduction waives bond

- The South Carolina mother charged in the death of her 11-month-old daughter after lying to police about the child's abduction did not appear in court Thursday.

Defense attorney for Breanna Lewis said that their client has waived their right to the bond hearing. The 19-year-old is charged with murder/homicide by child abuse in connection to the death of her infant daughter, Harlee Lane.

No word yet on when her next court date will be.

Lewis told investigators on May 29 that her 11-month-old daughter was stolen out of her arms by a man she said assaulted her along the side of Jackson Road in Chesterfield County. The baby was found dead a short time later.

Investigators told FOX 46 that Lewis admitted that she made up the abduction story. She was initially charged with filing a false police report and later charged with improper disposal of human remains.

On Wednesday, court records revealed the new charge of murder/homicide by child abuse against Lewis.

Deputies were called to the Lewis' home around 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 when Lewis said she was walking to check her mailbox in the 200 block of Daisey Lewis Lane when a tan and gold colored SUV stopped in the road. She said a man got out of the vehicle, punched her in the head several times, and grabbed her 11-month-old daughter.

An Amber Alert was issued just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, around the same time the baby's remains were found hidden behind the property inside a plastic bag in a plastic container about 1,000 yards from the home. Investigators said Lewis admitted that she made the story up about the abduction, but refused to tell them how the baby came to be in the plastic bin.

The Sheriff's Office said an autopsy of the 11-month-old girl, Harlee Lane Lewis, has been completed, but the official results of that autopsy are unavailable at this time. The results have been turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
