Monday marks first day of school for 5 SC districts

- Monday kicks off the first day of school for five South Carolina school districts.

Lancaster County SchoolsClover School DistrictYork County District 1Fort Mill Schools and Chester County School District start August 15. 

For Chesterfield County and Rock Hill (York District 3), schools start back Tuesday, August 16. AsheAvery and Watauga County Schools start back Monday, August 22.

There are still plenty of jobs that need to be filled, especially teachers.

In Greenville, the state’s largest district, 19 teacher openings remain along with more than two dozen coaching vacancies, according to South Carolina education officials.

There are also job openings for teachers’ aides, bus drivers, clerks and workers for after school programs.

In North Carolina, the following schools start back up Monday, August 29:

Burke County Public Schools

Caldwell County Schools

Alexander County Schools

Cleveland County Schools

Lincoln County Schools

Catabwa County Schools

Hickory Public Schools

Newton-Conover City Schools

Kannapolis City Schools

Mooresville Graded School District
