MONROE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Monroe High School was placed on lock down following reports of shots fired in the area, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.
Around 3:11 p.m. on Wednesday deputies with the Sheriff's Office were notified of gunshots being fired in east Monroe. The school was placed on lockdown four minutes after the call was received. The lockdown has since been lifted.
No injuries have been reported at this time and Monroe Police are on scene trying to identify any potential suspects.
