More charges for SC mom involved in deadly drug deal after child tests positive for marijuana

- A South Carolina mom is facing more charges in connection to a deadly drug deal after her child, who was in the car during the drug deal, tested positive for marijuana.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says Jody Lynn Holt, 20, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after the Department of Social Services notified deputies that one of Holt's two children tested positive for marijuana. Her second child may have tested positive as well, but DSS did not confirm.

Holt was initially arrested on Friday, May 18 after police discovered her role in the drug deal and attempted robbery that led to the shooting death of Vincent Barry Lambert, Jr. on May 10.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Holt and Lambert had arranged to meet one of the shooting suspects to sell him drugs.

When they arrived at the meeting location along Pine Ridge Dr. just north of Kershaw, Brennan Jamil Patterson, Jr., Ka’Darius Aintwayn Kirkland and Dorian Tyrese Clyburn tried to steal the drugs and shots were fired.

Lambert was killed and Holt was injured in the shooting. Before deputies arrived on scene, Holt tried to hide the drugs, which were later found by investigators. Her 4-year-old child was found unharmed in the backseat of the car.

She was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and unlawful neglect of a child as the Sheriff's Office says she "placed her child at unreasonable risk of harm affecting the child’s life, physical or mental health, or safety."

Her bond was set at $22,000 and she remains in the custody at the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
