More deputies resign following sexual misconduct at York County Sheriff's Office

- York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson has only been on the job less than 10 months, but t for the second time in a matter of months he addressed misconduct with his own deputies.

"This is what it is. It's not pretty. It's not fun to be up here and talk about employees and police officers that have sex on duty," said Sheriff Tolson to a group of reporters Monday afternoon.

In an internal investigation launched in September, two female deputies admitted to having sex while on the job, but said it never impacted calls for service.

Back in August, six deputies were also accused of having sex on duty after an anonymous tip was made to the sheriff.

Two deputies were fired and four others were demoted or suspended.

"When I am made aware of officers that have misconduct and conduct themselves in that manner then I am going to deal with it," said Sheriff Tolson.

Sheriff Tolson told reporters he hopes this is the last time he had to address sexual misconduct with his deputies, admitting that they are held to a higher standard and rightfully so.

"For us to sit here and to think as a group that these kinds of activities don't happen in every profession we are fooling ourselves," said Sheriff Tolson.

One of the deputies who was fired back in August has made allegations of sexual harassment within the York County Sheriff's Department, but Sheriff Tolson says no investigation has been launched because no formal complaint has been filed.
