CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with murder in the death of a 2-year-old boy after authorities ruled his death suspicious last month.
Tenisha Renea Wells, 25, the boy’s mother and Patrick Jamal Chambers, 28, were arrested Tuesday morning without incident after detectives determined they were responsible for the child’s death, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
On July 25, authorities said they found a 2-year-old boy unresponsive in his home along the 4900 block of Farm Pond Lane. He was later pronounced dead at Presbyterian Hospital.
Detectives in consultation with the Medical Examiner's Office determined the child was physically assaulted, which led to his death.
According to police, there were several adults who were in the position to provide care to the child in the days leading up to his death.
