CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A man’s grief-stricken mother spoke only with FOX 46 on Tuesday, as new information was released about who may have murdered him.
“I know I'm not going to be able to hug my baby, kiss my baby, tell my baby I love him. Why did they do my baby like this? Because I know my baby has a kind heart,” Allene Mobley said.
25-year-old Tevin Snow, or "Tay" as he was known to friends and family, was killed after police said someone fired shots at him while he was driving down West W.T. Harris Blvd. Monday in the middle of the day.
Police said Tay was shot three times through his window as he was driving in the area. He then lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guardrail at. No one else was in the vehicle with him, police said.
He was taken to CMC-Main with life-threatening injuries where he died Tuesday morning.
“I just don't understand how someone could do a human being like that and leave like that, apparently no heart, no conscience,” she said.
Police released a picture of what they're calling a vehicle of interest in the shooting on Tuesday.
The car is a gray Honda crosstour that was traveling eastbound on W.T. Harris Blvd. near IBM Dr. Monday morning around 11:20 a.m., one minute after the 911 call was made saying that Tay had been shot.
“I prayed that he wasn't in a lot of pain but God took him home, so we have to accept that,” said Mobley.
Tay's grandmother used to call him the "peacemaker,” his mom says.
She said Tay had been in the University area visiting his girlfriend. On Monday, police said it was unclear if the shooting was the result of road rage, or if Tay knew his killer.
“I want to see them get life in prison because they took my baby's life, he just turned 25, didn't get a chance to get married, have no kids,” she said.
