ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - A heartbroken mother told FOX 46 she wants her son to be remembered as a kind person and caring person.
“He was my baby. He was a good boy,” says Jessica Earley.
19-year-old Michael Earley's mom was fighting back tears as she talked about her son, who was taken far too soon.
“He was just a happy person. He always had more energy than I could take. He was just always, always happy,” said Earley.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, Earley was murdered and his body was dismembered. So far, three people have been charged.
“I would love to know why, but I don't think it matters. I want them to know that they took a good person from this world and from me and my family,” she said.
He was also taken from his girlfriend. His mother tells FOX 46 she had just recently given Michael her mother's diamond ring to give to his girlfriend.
“That's how much he loved her. He just wanted her to have something nice from our family and now he can't do that now,” she said.
And with Mother's Day weekend on the horizon, Jessica says the legacy she hopes her son leaves behind is long lasting.
“I want them to remember his smile and his personality, and how he was really a friend to anybody,” she said.
