HUNTERSVILLE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - It’s been a difficult week for Jane and Sherry to relive. A memorial on Kerns Road in Huntersville for their two daughters standing for more than two decades, disappeared.
"From the shock of it being gone, to the anger of it being gone, to the grief it was like losing the girls all over again," Jane Bolton said.
After FOX 46 Charlotte aired their story earlier last week, those in the community and beyond helped to get results for the two women.
The two did not want to disclose the details on who was responsible but wanted to end all rumors that the City or NCDOT was involved.
"It wasn't a vicious act or malicious act or even vandalism. It has brought comfort and resolve," Bolton explained.
"Everyone shared it and it was viewed so many times. It really surprised me, but that’s what brought the resolution is the right person seeing it," Sherry Harkey said.
Now, with a resolution in hand the women thankful for their neighbors and looking forward to what this space will become in the future.
"It made me even more appreciative of our community about what this memorial stands for. It’s not just about the two girls, it’s about the community," Bolton said.
