National Night Out aims to build police-community relations

- First responders across the country will gather Tuesday night to strengthen relationships with those they serve.

The National Night Out events will have free food, games, movies and other outdoor activities.

There will be hundreds of these events going on in the area, including 31 events across Mecklenburg County. 

Rock Hill will be participating with over 35 neighborhoods and Salisbury with 22.

The annual event is all about community building between people and the police officers that protect and live in those same communities.

After 33 years the event has drawn in over 37 million people from over 10,000 different communities across America and Canada.


  • The Vineyards on Lake Wylie, the neighborhood clubhouse, 4628 Clos Du Val Rd., Charlotte, 28214
  • Hidden Valley: Tom Hunter Park at 919 Tom Hunter Rd., Charlotte
  • Belmont/Villa Heights: Cordeilia Park, 2100 N. Davidson St.
  • Ravenwood/Grove Park: The triangle," the intersection of Linda Lake Dr., Terry Ln. & Lakeside Dr., Charlotte
  • Cornelius:  6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gazebo in Jetton Village, North Cove Road
  • Huntersville: 9801 Sam Furr Road, Huntersville (Target and Northcross Shopping Center) and 14200 Holbrooks Road (Waymer Park)--Both locations will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
