CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Thanks to you sharing your I-77 diaries, you're getting things changed in the project. First off by making it safer when construction vehicles enter the highway.
On Wednesday, you took a ride with me and chuck roads in the I-77 construction area.
This Thursday, we're getting results for a safer drive. Your feedback catching NCDOT’s attention. You told us how construction vehicles are dangerously merging into traffic.
Here's one small example how you're getting results: Brand new signs with flashing lights are going up along the project. They'll flash to let you know construction vehicles are coming out of the work zone.
That's not all. You've asked over and over for NCDOT to lower the speed limit on 77 in the work zone.
For the first time that we’ve heard NCDOT says they're going to actually look at lowering it. That comes from the statewide traffic engineer Kevin Lacy.
We know you're facing a lot in the construction zone and we can't get to it all in one day. But we'll continue to work together with you to get results for a safer drive.
