Nearly blind singer leads North Carolina band

- Tyler Millard was just 16-year-old when he suddenly began to experience tunnel vision and impaired sight.

He learned those were early stages of a genetic retina disorder and he soon became blind in both eyes.

Tyler decided to pursue his biggest passion, music.

He is the lead singer in The Tyler Millard Band.

"It's all about having good friends, family and good support," Mallard said. And trying to look forward and know that no matter what happens there's still a way for you to achieve what you want to achieve." 

They recorded a song "Alive" in Nashville in August and it is available on iTunes. A portion of the proceed will go back to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

The lead guitarist- Kyle Vessa, Keyboard player- Rick Millard (Tyler's Dad), base player- Carl Heck and Drummer- Carlos Comer.
