CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46) - A record number of buses will be hit Mecklenburg County roads and starts when the year starts. With just shy of 1,100 buses, CMS says they have drivers to fill each bus.
On top of that each bus will equipped with cameras which is welcoming news to parents' ears
"It says to me there's a progessive form of security for the children and the personnel," said one parent.
"It gives a lot of extra comfort because my daughter goes to a school K-8. I worry about her being on the bus with big kids and the big kids picking on her so now we can pinpoint that personally," another parent added.
Scheduled to come in October an app where parents are able to track the buses.
"That's been an ask from the community so we piloted a program last May -- good results. We want them great so we a continuing to work out the kinks so we can get that available to parents," transportation director, Janet Thomas.
Others mentioned these improvements are a step in the right direction, but hope in the future bus aides can be added as well.
