The shooting happened at 1:49 a.m. Monday, August 20 inside the World Nightclub located at 900 NC Music Factory Boulevard.
Officers said a fight occurred between the business' employees and several people belonging to the stage performer's group. The fight reportedly started when a club employee tried to stop a person from drinking from an open bottle of alcohol, which is against State Law.
During the incident multiple people were fighting and a club employee was shot, police said. He was transported to CMC-Main with non-life threatening injuries.
CMPD officers detained multiple who were involved in the fight on scene.
More fights then broke out in the parking lot, so several dozen CMPD officers ended up being needed at the crime scene to maintain the peace. A total of five guns were seized on scene, including a silencer, according to the police report.
