Northwest Charlotte church needs donations for back to school drive

- Outreach Pastor at New Outreach Christian Center, Brenda Stevenson, has a new goal for the church’s annual back to school giveaway.

“This year we’d like to help 150 families,” Stevenson said.

The congregation is asking for the public’s help to assist more families in the area than the church ever has before with this school drive. They need for you to drop off school supplies any weekday between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The church is located at 3900 Gossett Ave.

Some of the recommended items are backpacks, notebook paper, pencils, pens, glue, folders and binders.

The big giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, August 26th.

In addition to school supplies, Stevenson said they will also provide children with snacks to jumpstart the school year.

Supplies will be provided to kids in grades K-12. Parents must sign their children up prior to the giveaway in order to receive items.

“It (school supplies) gives them hope. And they go to school feeling good like other kids,” Stevenson said.
