Object shatters windshield, injures driver in Cabarrus County

- A man needs your help getting results, after her says someone threw an object at his truck while he was driving. Whatever hit his truck, shattered his windshield and injured the driver.

When you're driving down a busy highway, the last thing you expect is someone to throw something at your car, breaking your windshield.

"What kind of person are you to do something like that," said an 86-year-old man who is a victim of the crime.

The man agreed to tell his story to FOX 46 Charlotte if we concealed his identity and withheld his name.

"Someone who doesn't even know me, or have ever seen me, tried to kill me," he said.

Around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, the man was driving down Highway 49 in Cabarrus County when his windshield shattered, sending shards of glass into his face and eyes.

"I got outside the truck and I had blood all over me," he said.

He believes someone threw a glass bottle at his truck.

"I just hope we can catch him in some way and punish him. That could have been a car of women and children, not just one person," he said.

The man has serious injuries after shards of glass went into his eyes.  The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office is investigating, but no witnesses pulled over during the incident....

"I am willing to put up a $1,000 reward to find out who did it," the man said.

You can help get results. Anyone who may have been driving along Highway 49 around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near Mount Pleasant and saw an object thrown at a maroon Toyota Tacoma is asked to call the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.
