SALISBURY, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Rowan County Animal Enforcement is investigating after more than 20 animals were found dead on a property in Salisbury, and dozens of others were being neglected.
The investigation was launched on May 29 after Animal Enforcement received a complaint about livestock being neglected at 152 Shady Creek Dr.
Upon arrival, Animal Enforcement officers found 80 animals total, including, llamas, donkeys, goats and sheep. 27 of the animals were found dead on the property, but officials say it is unclear if they died of starvation.
They did say the pasture was down to dirt, and the animals didn't look good and were underweight.
All of the animals were seized from the property. The owners of the animals will possibly be charged with animal cruelty.
