GRANITE FALLS, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - Fire inspection reports released on Wednesday show that the building where a massive fire broke out last week had sprinkler issues dating back to 2015.
Following the release of a 2017 fire inspection report, the 2015 report shows that the building needed to "have sprinkler system serviced and back on line."
The owner of the building, Mike Granger, called the Caldwell County Fire Marshall's Office about two weeks later saying the sprinkler system had been repaired.
A 2013 fire inspection report conducted after Colonial Shipping, a company that shipped socks, moved out the building, and prior to Granger moving in said the fire protection equipment needed to be updated.
At the time of inspection the building was still named Colonial at 10-D Falls Ave. Granger added storage units to the building and renamed it Old Shuford Mills Building, address 10-B Falls Ave. in 2015.
