CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46) - It’s been one year since the body of Katherine “Kétie” Memory Jones was found in the Plaza Midwood community.
At this time, there have been no arrests. Police say the investigation into her murder is active and ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a Homicide Unit Detective. Detective Isenhour is the lead detective assigned to the case.
A memorial was created immediately after her death near the spot where she was shot. Those who knew her have kept the make-shift memorial active since her passing and refreshed it on Sunday with flowers and candles.
One year later, people who live in the community said it’s still hard to accept that she’s gone.
“Especially hard when you don’t have the closure. You don’t know why, you don’t know who. You have so many answers that are left open and that can be a really hard thing,” one community resident said.
The victim's mother, who lives in Asheville, posted on Facebook over the weekend, thanking people who are keeping her daughter’s memory and case alive.
