UNION CO., NC (WJZY) - One person has died following a small plane crash in Union County Friday evening.
The victim has been identified as Robert William Schroll, 59, of Pageland, South Carolina.
The Union County Sheriff's Office said the ultra light aircraft came down just after 4 p.m. Friday, April 29 in the 4000 block of Poplin Road in Monroe.
Multiple crews, including Monroe police arrived on scene and found Schroll deceased.
The medical examiner responded and made arrangements for Schroll's body to be sent to Charlotte for an autopsy.
The FAA was notified of the crash and will handle the overall investigation as to the cause and any additional information related to this accident.
